Getting Comfortable being Uncomfortable…

To grow as people, it is often necessary to push ourselves outside our comfort zone. If you are comfortable with the activities you engage in, then you’re simply doing what you’ve already been doing, which will produce the same results as before. Now, this may not be such a bad thing if you’re happy with the results that you’re currently experiencing. This mindset is the starting point for mediocrity.

However, if you’re willing to do the things that make you uncomfortable, a new activity, a new marketing strategy, or developing a new skill or way of thinking, then you will create new and better results. As a military recruiter I was forced to do a lot of public speaking, which at first was terrifying for me. I quickly realized that if I was going to be successful, I was going to have to get comfortable being uncomfortable.

We have all heard that the definition of insanity is. “Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.” Well I recently read that the definition of futility is, “knowing the definition of insanity and still not doing anything about it.”

Have a great day-

You are exactly right Will. It is by pushing ourselves to do the things that make us uncomfortable that allow us to grow. Fantastic blog!

I love this blog. It’s so on point for me. Ex. we needed teachers for children’s church and I was terrified to volunteer, but once I bit the bullet and done it, well I have LEARNED more by TEACHING than I ever thought possible. In the words of my daughter, “mama its only kids”. Thanks for sharing 🙂
